Five Cult Members Arrested in Lagos Police Operation

The Lagos State Police Command arrested five suspected cult members in the Apapa Ijora Badia area over the weekend. The operation was conducted by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following credible intelligence regarding alleged criminal activities in the area.

The primary suspect, Abubakar Ayomid, 25, was apprehended alongside four others identified as Tanko Yusuf (23), Ahm Abibu (24), Abubakar Shafi (23), and Fatai Moham (25). Police spokesperson Superintendent Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that the suspects confessed to being members of the Aiy confraternity.

The operation also led to the recovery of various items, including a battle axe, two knives, a hammer, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp. The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Olohundar Jimoh, warned cultists and criminal elements to renounce their activities or face the full weight of the law.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting individuals involved in cult-related violence and criminal activities.
