Oyo Police Rescue Couple from Kidnappers Unharmed

On July 5, 2026, Alhaji Busiru Booni and his wife, Alhaja Pitiku, were abducted by a group of five armed men in Tiro Village, Irawo, Oyo State. The Oyo State Police Command, upon receiving a distress report, coordinated a search and rescue operation led by CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga.

The operation involved the Oyo State Police Command, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters. During the operation, a stolen motorcycle was recovered, which provided a significant breakthrough.

The joint security team engaged in a fierce gun duel with the kidnappers, who opened fire upon their advance. Despite the challenging terrain, the couple was rescued unharmed and immediately evacuated for medical evaluation.

They were subsequently discharged in stable condition and reunited with their family. The police command urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, especially those seeking unusual medical attention for bullet wounds.
