Oyo State Receives Two Surveillance Aircraft for Security

The Oyo State Government has officially received two security surveillance aircraft aimed at bolstering intelligence gathering, aerial surveillance, and rapid response to security threats within the state. Governor Seyi Makinde accepted the aircraft at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan.

This procurement was announced months prior and is part of a broader strategy to enhance the state's security architecture, not merely a response to recent abductions at Ahoro Community Grammar School. Makinde emphasized the necessity for aerial surveillance due to Oyo State's extensive landmass, stating that it complements ground security operations.

He acknowledged criticisms regarding the delay in the aircraft's arrival but reaffirmed his administration's commitment to addressing security challenges. The aircraft will be operational immediately, facilitated by a partnership with the Nigerian Air Force, which includes a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure effective deployment and professional operation by Air Force pilots.
