Court Disqualifies APC's Adeleye, Declares Arobo Winner

On Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled against Mr. Timehin Adeleye, the current representative for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency of Ondo State, by disqualifying him as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections. The court declared Abdugani Arobo as the legitimate candidate, following a challenge to the APC's National Working Committee's (NWC) decision to include Adeleye's name in the list submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Peter Lifu presided over the case, stating that the APC failed to make a lawful return and that their evidence was inconsistent. The court confirmed that Arobo had received the highest lawful votes in the primary election held on May 16, 2026, with 7,959 votes from Owo Local Government Area and 2,583 votes from Ose Local Government Area.

The judgment mandates that Arobo's name be forwarded to INEC as the nominated candidate and prohibits the defendants from recognizing any other candidate.
