Court to Rule on APC Primary Election Dispute October 2026

The Federal High Court in Abuja resumed hearings on the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, focusing on the emergence of Dr Olumuyiwa Daramola as the winner. The case, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, involves a challenge to the primary election's conduct and the alleged substitution of Daramola’s name as the party's candidate.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed it monitored the primary and submitted a Certified True Copy of the results, which showed Daramola received 6,547 votes, defeating incumbent Hon Jimi Odimayo, who garnered 827 votes. Hon Harry Iboroma, the Chairman of the APC House of Representatives Primary Election Committee for Ondo State, testified about the primary's conduct, affirming Daramola's victory.

The court also reviewed video footage of the result announcement. Following the presentation of evidence and arguments, Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the case for judgment, scheduled for October 19, 2026.
