Oyo Task Force Cracks Down on Illegal Fuel Merchants

A joint operation led by Oyo State's Executive Assistant on Security, Dotun Oyelad, alongside various security agencies, targeted illegal fuel merchants operating along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The operation, which took place on a Wednesday, resulted in the discovery and seizure of several liters of illegal petroleum products, including premium motor spirit (petrol) and diesel stored in 25-liter kegs and large drums.

The operation was part of a broader initiative to ensure public safety and curb illegal petroleum trade. Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelad, emphasized the government's zero tolerance for practices that threaten public safety and the environment.

Owners of the impounded items were directed to report to the appropriate offices within seven days for proper identification and documentation, with a warning of potential forfeiture. The operation involved personnel from various agencies, including the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority and the Nigeria Police Force, and will continue until illegal activities are fully addressed.
