Helicopter Attack Leaves Two Dead, Many Injured in Niger State, Nigeria

In Niger State, Nigeria, a helicopter attack in the Kurgi community in the Mariga Local Government Area has left two people dead and several others injured from gunshot wounds. Eyewitnesses reported that a surveillance helicopter, suspected to belong to the Nigerian Air Force, flew over the area on a Sunday afternoon, hovered for several minutes, and then opened fire on the residents.

The gunfire struck residents going about their normal activities, including women and children, causing panic and forcing many to seek refuge in neighboring areas like Bangi town. Sulaiman Sanusi, a witness to the incident, described it as shocking and unprovoked, urging authorities to investigate the attack and provide urgent medical assistance to the injured.

As of the time of reporting, neither the Nigerian Air Force nor security agencies have issued an official statement regarding the incident.
