Senator Ningi Urges Prosecution of Oyo Kidnappers

During a plenary session in the Senate on Wednesday, Senator Abdul Ningi called on the Federal Government and security agencies to swiftly prosecute and publicly parade the suspects arrested in connection with the kidnapping of schoolchildren and a teacher in Oyo State. Ningi stressed that the crime must face the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

He warned that delays in prosecuting the suspects would undermine public confidence in the justice system. Ningi referenced the recent kidnapping incident involving gunmen who abducted pupils and a teacher from the Baptist Nursery Primary School and the La Primary School in the Oriir Local Government Area of Oyo State.

He noted that the victims were held captive for 56 days before being rescued by a joint security operation on Friday.
