Archbishop Onuoha Urges Action Against Banditry in Schools

During a speech at the 14th Vision Africa School Debate Competition in Umuahia, Archbishop Sundai Ndukwo Onuoha of the Methodist Church highlighted the growing fear among parents regarding sending their children to school due to rampant banditry in Nigeria. He called on the federal government to declare tougher measures to combat banditry and ensure the safety of school communities.

Onuoha emphasized the need for bold actions to secure the release of abducted schoolchildren and to address the increasing attacks on educational institutions, which he described as a direct assault on the nation's unity and social stability. He urged the federal government to confront banditry with strategic deployments of the Nigerian Army, referencing the tenure of former Chief of Army Staff Lt.
