Remi Tinubu Promotes Small Businesses Amid Party Deregistration

During a meeting with state governors at the State House in Abuja, Remi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, urged Nigerians to engage in small-scale businesses such as selling akara, roasted corn, and kuli kuli to enhance their livelihoods. She emphasized that these businesses require minimal capital to start.

In a related legal development, Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister five political parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), for not meeting the electoral performance threshold as stipulated in Section 225 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. The ruling stated that these parties failed to secure at least 25 percent of votes in state and federal elections.

The National Forum for Former Legislators (NFFL), which reportedly endorsed Tinubu for the 2027 elections, was involved in the case against the deregistration.
