Lagos Passenger Dies After Jumping from Reckless Bus

A tragic incident occurred in Lagos when a male passenger died after jumping from a moving commercial bus, which subsequently crashed into a median pole at Ogunlana Junction, inward Ojuelegba, in the Surulere area. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that the bus, a Volkswagen with registration number LND 130 XR, was being driven recklessly, allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

As the bus careened towards the median, other motorists attempted to avoid a collision. In a panic, the passenger jumped from the bus, sustaining severe injuries upon impact with the ground, and later succumbed to those injuries.

LASTMA personnel quickly arrived at the scene to manage traffic and secure the area, while the State Emergency Management Agency evacuated the deceased. LASTMA's General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, emphasized the dangers of reckless driving and urged vehicle owners to conduct thorough mechanical inspections before journeys.
