Truck Kills Pedestrian on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

On Wednesday, a yet-to-be-identified young adult male was crushed to death by a speeding truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, specifically in front of the OPIC corridor, shortly before 1 PM. Eyewitness Nojeem reported that the victim was attempting to cross the expressway when the truck struck him and fled the scene.

The incident left the victim's body scattered across the road, causing significant traffic disruption. Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance Agency, confirmed the hit-and-run incident and stated that operatives from the agency and the Amotekun Corps were managing the traffic situation.

By around 6 PM, Akinbiyi provided an update that the body had been evacuated and taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu. The expressway has a history of similar incidents, prompting calls from pedestrians for the construction of a pedestrian bridge to improve safety.
