Pastor Arrested for Flogging Girl to Death Over Theft

On June 1, 2026, in Wula Boki Local Government Area, Cross River State, Pastor Roman Samson, aged 45, was arrested for allegedly flogging 13-year-old Nanci Peter to death. The incident arose after Nanci's mother, Mrs. Peter, accused her daughter of stealing N30,000 from their home.

Following the accusation, Mrs. Peter took Nanci to Pastor Samson's residence for discipline. Reports indicate that the pastor used a horsewhip to beat Nanci, administering between 13 to 15 strokes until she became unconscious.

When Mrs. Peter returned, she found Nanci unresponsive, and the pastor had already rushed her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Pastor Samson, the founder of General Overs Good Jesu Ministry, expressed regret over the incident, stating he did not intend to kill Nanci.

However, Mrs. Peter denied asking for her daughter to be beaten, claiming she only sought counsel and prayer. The Cross River State Police Command, represented by ASP Eitokpah Sundai, confirmed the arrest and ongoing investigation.
