Sowore Defends Activism Against Nwabuikwu's Critique

Paul C Nwabuikwu, who served twice as Special Adviser to Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, wrote a piece on thisdaylive.com questioning the seriousness of Omoyele Sowore's presidential candidacy. Sowore responded by highlighting Nwabuikwu's background and the political establishment's influence on his opinions.

He defended his history as a student activist, stating that confronting military dictatorship was a revolutionary act. Nwabuikwu criticized Sowore for his 14,608 votes in the 2023 presidential election, suggesting it indicated a lack of seriousness.

Sowore countered that the political system in Nigeria is profoundly unequal, arguing that vote counts do not reflect the quality of ideas. He accused Nwabuikwu of hypocrisy for selectively interpreting election results while previously denouncing the credibility of the 2023 elections.
