PDP Revises Timetable for 2027 General Elections

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) announced changes to its timetable ahead of the 2027 general elections in a statement issued on Wednesday. The party's national public secretary confirmed that the purchase of nomination forms will conclude on May 15, 2026, with the final date for submission of completed forms set for May 18, 2026.

Screening of applicants is scheduled for May 19, 2026. This adjustment was approved by the interim national working committee and is based on appeals from stakeholders and aspirants across the country.

The PDP will screen candidates for national and state assembly positions, as well as gubernatorial and presidential aspirants in Abuja. Meanwhile, the national public secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) disclosed that the opposition is exploring the possibility of presenting a united front against President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, acknowledging setbacks following the exits of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the ADC.
