PDP Criticizes Alia for New University in Benue State

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State criticized Governor Hyacinth Alia for his decision to inaugurate a task force for a new university in his hometown, describing it as a distraction that exacerbates the ongoing crisis at the Moshood Abiola University of Agriculture, Makurdi. Bright Yima Antyo, the PDP's state publicity secretary, questioned the urgency of establishing a new university when the existing state university is struggling with funding and welfare issues.

The PDP emphasized that the governor should prioritize restoring stability at the current institution rather than embarking on new ventures that do not address the pressing challenges faced by thousands of students affected by strikes and uncertainty. The statement highlighted the need for the government to focus on improving funding and creating a conducive learning environment, asserting that the people of Benue State would not be misled by ceremonial announcements.
