PDP Urges INEC to Clarify Wike's Alleged Gifts

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) address allegations concerning Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Reports emerged suggesting that Wike offered land and cash gifts to certain senior officials within INEC.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the party's national secretary, Ini Ememobong, the PDP described these reports as alarming and potentially damaging to public trust in the electoral commission. Last week, media outlets reported that Mr.

Moham Kudu Haruna, a supervising official at INEC for the FCT, admitted to receiving land gifts, raising concerns about the allocation of such benefits. The PDP emphasized that while senior INEC officials may receive these gifts, essential workers such as healthcare professionals, teachers, and security personnel do not receive similar benefits despite their critical roles.

The party insisted that INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan must respond to these allegations to ensure transparency and maintain public confidence in the electoral process.
