PDP Demands Probe into Senator Fadahunsi's Violent Remarks

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded an investigation into comments made by Senator Francis Fadahunsi in a viral video, where he allegedly threatened violence against political opponents in the lead-up to the 2027 elections. The PDP's statement, signed by Comrade Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, expressed that Fadahunsi's remarks were met with "tremendous shock" by Nigerians and the international community.

The senator was quoted saying, “So, we have come to tell you, up till the day of the election, if we see them, it is killing.” The PDP condemned such statements, asserting that elections should allow citizens to choose their leaders freely, not serve as a platform for threats and violence. The party linked Fadahunsi's comments to a pattern of inflammatory rhetoric from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing previous statements from the APC's presidential candidate.

The PDP urged President Bola Tinubu and the APC to cease anti-democratic narratives and emphasized the need for civility in political communication.
