PDP Faction Demands Release of Akwa Ibom Activist Arrested for Social Media Activities

A faction within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State is advocating for the immediate and unconditional release of social media activist Godswill Udoito. The activist was arrested and arraigned by the state police command on charges of criminal defamation, threats to public peace, spreading false information, and causing a breach of public peace.

The PDP group, led by Dr. Tom Fredfish and Secretary Savour Uko Uyo, expressed concerns over the continued harassment and restriction of Udoito's rights, emphasizing the need for peace and justice in the state.

Princess Godswill Udoito, known for advocating for the protection of ancestral lands, has been a vocal critic of the government's policies affecting Ekid people. The group demands her release to uphold democratic principles and freedom of expression.
