Anosike Launches Abia Champions League to Engage Youth
The Kelechi Anosike Foundation (KAF) Abia Champions League, initiated by Dr. Kelechi Anosike, the Abia State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 elections, commenced last Sunday at the Williams Memorial Secondary School in Afugiri Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area. The tournament aims to engage Abia youths and address unemployment through sports.
The opening match featured Umuahia North LGA and Umuahia South LGA, ending in a 1-1 draw. Dr. Anosike described the competition as a platform to discover new talents and announced plans for a Sports and Football Academy in Abia State if elected governor.
The tournament is structured into groups across 17 local government areas, with the goal of identifying outstanding players. Anosike emphasized that youth engagement through sports would reduce restiveness and position Abia State as a sports development hub.
The KAF Abia Champions League is expected to run for several weeks, culminating in a grand finale.
