PDP Leadership Structure Remains Intact, Says Nnaji

Ray Nnaji, the Vice Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the Southeast, has dismissed claims of a leadership vacuum within the party, which arose after a recent Supreme Court ruling. Nnaji stated that the ruling was misinterpreted and emphasized that the PDP's leadership structure remains fully operational.

This response comes in light of concerns regarding the party's internal crisis, particularly following statements from former Senate President Adolphus Wabara. Wabara argued that the Supreme Court ruling invalidated factions within the party and empowered the second highest organ of the PDP constitution to assume temporary control.

Nnaji countered that Wabara's interpretation misconstrued the Supreme Court's decision and accused party members, including former chairmen, of deliberately misrepresenting the ruling, which he claimed created confusion within the party. He explained that the Supreme Court's decision required a review of the original dispute stemming from disagreements at the PDP's national convention held in Ibadan.
