PDP's 2027 Election Prospects with Jonathan on Ballot

Fred Agbedi, the House of Representatives Minority Leader, expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could reclaim power in the 2027 general election if former President Goodluck Jonathan appears on the ballot. Agbedi made these remarks on Monday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show, discussing the state of the opposition party and its preparations for the upcoming election cycle.

He noted that despite internal disagreements and factional disputes within the PDP, the party remains a formidable political force. Agbedi highlighted Jonathan's widespread acceptance across Nigeria, suggesting that his candidacy would significantly enhance the PDP's chances.

He acknowledged that while Jonathan has not declared his intention to run, he has not ruled it out either. The question of which faction of the PDP, either the Wike faction or the Turaki faction, will nominate the presidential candidate is still unresolved.

A faction led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has adopted Jonathan as its preferred candidate, but this nomination was not recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) due to procedural issues.
