PENGASSAN Suspends Seplat Strike After NNPCL Intervention

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its industrial action against Seplat Energy Plc due to intervention from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). This decision follows a commitment from Seplat's management to address worker welfare concerns and continue negotiations for the 2026 collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

The suspension takes immediate effect, allowing employees to return to work and preventing potential disruptions in oil production. The union had previously instructed members to withdraw services across Seplat locations starting April 2, 2026, due to unmet demands affecting both staff and contract workers.

The intervention by NNPCL's Executive Vice President of Business Services was crucial in resolving the impasse. PENGASSAN expressed appreciation for its members' solidarity during the strike and emphasized the importance of concluding negotiations by the April 13 deadline to formalize the agreement.
