JTF North-West Troops Rescue 10 Victims in Zamfara

On September 27, 2026, troops from the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, conducted operations in Zamfara State, successfully foiling two separate abduction attempts and rescuing a total of ten victims. In the first incident at Kade Daba village in Kanoma District, Maru Local Government Area, troops acted on intelligence regarding a terrorist abduction, leading to the rescue of four villagers.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of JTF North-West, reported that the troops engaged the terrorists, resulting in the immediate rescue of three victims, with a fourth rescued during further area exploitation. In a second incident along the Tsafe-Funtua Road, troops responded to gunfire and encountered terrorists, forcing them to flee.

Before their arrival, the terrorists had attempted to abduct occupants of a vehicle, which was set ablaze. The troops rescued six individuals from another vehicle that lost control due to the gunfire.

The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their professionalism and urged the public to provide timely information to security agencies.
