Pete Edochie Praises Awolowo's Impact on Nigeria

In an interview on "Curiosity Made Me Ask," hosted by Adebayo Abidemi, popularly known as Isbae U, actor Pete Edochie, 79, shared his admiration for Nigerian politician Obafemi Awolowo. Edochie emphasized that his respect for Awolowo stems from his development initiatives, particularly in education and broadcasting, rather than partisan politics.

He noted Awolowo's unique approach of detailing his projects, including costs and funding sources, which he believes sets him apart from contemporary politicians. Edochie cited Awolowo's introduction of free primary education in the Western Region, which provided educational opportunities irrespective of ethnicity, and the establishment of Western Nigeria Television in 1959 as significant contributions.

He remarked on Awolowo's political career, expressing regret that he never became president despite his influence. Edochie also mentioned his personal connection to the Yoruba people, stating that one of his sons is married to a Yoruba woman, further illustrating his respect for Awolowo's legacy.
