Benue Commissioner Criticizes Peter Obi's Visit Protocol

Solomon Iorpev, the Benue State Commissioner for Information, accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), of creating tension by visiting Benue without formally notifying the state government. Iorpev made these remarks on Tuesday in response to an incident where youths disrupted Obi’s movement in the state capital.

He emphasized that, as a former governor and a presidential candidate, Obi should have communicated his visit to the Benue State Government in advance. This notification would have allowed the authorities to arrange proper security measures to protect Obi and his team.

Iorpev stated that without such communication, the state could not ensure Obi's safety. He also mentioned that this was not the first time Obi had failed to follow this protocol, suggesting that Obi was seeking trouble.

Iorpev expressed that the people of Benue are peace-loving and hospitable.
