NDC Demands Justice Over Blockade of Peter Obi's Visit

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for an investigation into the blockade of Peter Obi's convoy during his planned visit to Yelwata, Benue State, on Tuesday. Obi aimed to meet families of victims from the June 2025 massacre.

Osa Director, the NDC's National Publicity Secretary, described the blockade as disturbing and emphasized that Obi's visit was humanitarian, not politically motivated. The NDC urged the Benue State Government and security agencies to investigate the incident and hold accountable those responsible.

Obi alleged that 'hired thugs' obstructed his movement, preventing him from reaching Yelwata. He stated that his trip was purely humanitarian and followed his attendance at the opening of another opposition candidate's campaign office in Abuja.

The Benue State Government claimed it was unaware of Obi's visit, while the Benue State Police Command stated it had deployed officers for his security, though the reason for the blockade remained unclear.
