Peter Obi Condemns Convoy Attack in Benue State Visit

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), visited Benue State to express condolences to a community that recently lost residents, stating his purpose was not to campaign. On Tuesday, as his convoy entered the state, it encountered a blockade on Boko Road near the Nigerian Air Force Base, allegedly set up by thugs.

Obi expressed concern over the deteriorating state of political tolerance in Nigeria, advocating for a shift from divisive politics to one focused on unity. He stated, “You can see the level to which our politics has degenerated,” and reiterated his call for compassionate political engagement.

Obi's media aide, Esther Umoh, reported the incident on social media, sharing footage of the blockade and asserting that the thugs aimed to prevent Obi's access to the state. Earlier, Obi had made a similar appeal for unity while attending the inauguration of an office for a candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
