Kalu Calls for Investigation into Alleged Fake Council

On Wednesday, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, disclosed that he was misled by a group claiming to be the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). During a plenary session, Kalu expressed concerns over the council's legitimacy, stating that it appeared to have official correspondence bearing the President's letterhead.

Kalu recounted that he received a letter dated May 2, 2025, from the Director General of the PFIPC, which he initially found credible after verifying the address listed on the Federal Government's website. However, upon meeting with the group, the discussion unexpectedly shifted away from constitutional amendments to issues related to the legitimacy of the council.

Kalu urged the House to support a motion for a thorough investigation into the PFIPC, stressing the need for transparency and accountability in government operations. He noted that the council had become controversial, especially after being mentioned in the 2026 Appropriation Act, despite the President, Bola Tinubu, denying its existence.
