Philippines Extends Visa Relief for Stranded Travelers

The Philippine government has announced an extension of visa relief for stranded foreign travelers until May 1, 2026. This temporary relief, initially set to expire on April 1, 2026, is a response to ongoing global flight disruptions caused by reduced airline capacity and tensions in the Middle East.

Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida noted that a significant number of foreign nationals remain stranded, highlighting the need for continued flexibility in immigration enforcement during this critical period. The extension allows eligible foreign nationals, including those from India, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, and the United Kingdom, to remain in the Philippines without incurring penalties while awaiting available flights.

Authorities have advised travelers to monitor airline schedules and book tickets as soon as flights become available. This measure is designed to provide practical support amid the evolving global travel situation.
