Truck Accident in Ogun State Damages Power Infrastructure

On Monday night around 9 p.m., a truck accidentally pulled down a high-tension electricity line serving the WiseBuyers Supermarket Distribution Transformer in Arepo, Ogun State. The incident resulted in significant damage to two electricity poles, with one pole leaning dangerously and electrical cables hanging low, posing risks to motorists, pedestrians, nearby businesses, and residents.

Akinlolu Akinpelumi, the Secretary of the Electricity Committee of the Arepo Area Community Development Council, issued a public notice urging residents to avoid the affected area and exercise caution. He warned against touching or moving the damaged poles and cables.

Akinpelumi confirmed that the incident had been reported to Ikeja Electric, and efforts were underway to secure the damaged infrastructure and carry out repairs. He noted that the extent of the damage might affect power supply to customers served by the Wise Buyers Distribution Transformer until repairs are completed and urged residents to cooperate with emergency personnel.
