Pinheiro Urges NBA President to Unite Divided Bar

Kemi Pinheiro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, congratulated Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya on her election as the first female president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Badejo-Okusanya emerged victorious in a poll held over a 24-hour period, receiving 12,317 votes, which represented 47.18% of the 26,106 ballots cast.

She defeated two male candidates, Lateef Omoyemi Akangb, who received 7,934 votes (30.39%), and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, who garnered 5,855 votes (22.43%). The overall voter turnout was 31.86% from 82,172 registered voters.

Following the announcement of the results, Pinheiro described Badejo-Okusanya's victory as a historic milestone that reflects the confidence of the legal profession in her leadership vision. He emphasized the need for her administration to heal divisions within the NBA and foster inclusivity, urging her to focus on protecting the rule of law and promoting the welfare of lawyers in Nigeria.
