Plateau State Confirms Tourism Ministry Still Exists

The Plateau State Government has refuted claims that the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality was eliminated in the recent cabinet reshuffle conducted by Governor Caleb Mutfwang. This clarification was provided by Yiljap Abraham, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Policy and Governance, during an interview with PUNCH Online in Jos.

Abraham emphasized that the ministry is crucial to the administration's economic diversification strategy, particularly due to Plateau's potential in hospitality, cultural festivals, and eco-tourism. Following the reshuffle, which occurred last Thursday, several commissioners were reassigned, including Peter Gai, who moved from the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning to the Ministry of Agriculture.

However, the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality was notably without a commissioner, leading to speculation about its status. Abraham stated that the ministry has not been scrapped but is temporarily overseen by the Commissioner for Information until a new commissioner is appointed.

He assured that appointments for vacant positions, including that of the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality, will be announced in due course.
