Plateau State Launches Strategic Food Security Plan

The Plateau State Government has officially endorsed and launched a strategic food security plan designed to strengthen the state's agricultural system and improve food security. The event took place recently in Jos, the state capital, and was developed under the SPRING Programme, implemented by the Supply Chain Research and Innovation Hub (SCRIH) in collaboration with the Plateau State Government.

Key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development from Mangu, Pankshin, and Shendam Local Government Areas, contributed their expertise. Mujidang Sitang, the Regional Programme Manager of SPRING, emphasized the importance of implementing the plan to effectively address food crises.

Adebayo Adeleke, the Executive Director of SCRIH, highlighted the plan's potential to transform the agricultural landscape by promoting the participation of women and vulnerable groups. Lang Zakka, the Director of Agricultural Services, assured that the initiative aims to improve livelihoods and promote peace within communities, noting positive testimonies regarding security improvements.
