Herders Buried in Mangu Amid Calls for Government Action

On Saturday, three herders—Garzali Shaibu (18), Bashiru Yakubu (14), and Salim Abubakar (15)—were killed in an attack in Mangu, where approximately 50 cattle were also shot dead. Their funeral prayer took place on Sunday at the Mangu Central Mosque, led by Imam Jibrin Ahmad Dalhat.

Following the prayers, the bodies were interred at the Mangu Cemetery. During the burial, Muhammad Salihu, Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Mangu, appealed for calm among the herding community, emphasizing the importance of patience and unity in the face of adversity.

He criticized the government for inaction regarding the repeated attacks on herders, stating that over 11 incidents had occurred without sufficient response. Salihu urged the government and security agencies to address the ongoing violence and protect the rights of herders, highlighting the significant financial losses incurred from recent attacks.
