Plateau Taskforce Raids Human Trafficking Rings, Arrests 183 Suspects

The Plateau State Taskforce, led by Yemi Kosoko, announced a significant breakthrough in the fight against human trafficking with the arrest of 183 suspects and the rescue of 11 minors in a coordinated overnight raid across multiple locations in the state. The Attorney General, Philemon Daffi, described this operation as a turning point in combating modern-day slavery.

Among the arrests, 41 women were detained, and 11 minors were rescued from an environment described as a "shadow society in decay." Daffi issued a stern warning to individuals involved in child prostitution, emphasizing that the state will no longer treat it as a social issue but as a grave violation of human rights. The new policy includes targeting properties used for human trafficking, with immediate enforcement to shut down and forfeit structures facilitating illicit activities.

The taskforce plans to evolve with new technologies and strategies to stay ahead of trafficking networks.
