Plateau Women Protest After Discovery of Two Corpses

On Monday morning, two unidentified female corpses were discovered behind the headquarters of the Jo South Local Government Area in Plateau State, prompting widespread protests by women in the Gero community. The residents temporarily blocked a section of the expressway, causing heavy traffic disruption.

Eyewitnesses confirmed the bodies were found early in the morning, leading to a mobilization of community members who expressed their anger and demanded justice. Ibrahim Sule, a commercial driver, reported that the protest severely affected movement for several hours.

Security personnel, including soldiers and police, were later deployed to restore order and reopen the road. Alabo Alfr, a spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, was not readily available for comments on the security operations.

The community urged calm and called for cooperation with security agencies to investigate the incident. Residents have requested the Plateau State government and security agencies to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths and bring those responsible to justice.
