Police Arrest Students Over Viral Assault Video in Plateau

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested several female students in connection with a viral video that allegedly depicts them assaulting another female student in Pankshin Local Government Area. SP Alfred Alabo, the command spokesman, announced the arrests in a statement on Friday in Jos.

Following the incident, Commissioner of Police Ayodeji Faniyan instructed the Area Commander in Pankshin to conduct an immediate investigation and apprehend those involved. Alabo stated that the arrested students would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after preliminary investigations and would face charges in court upon completion of the investigations.

He condemned the act of violence, labeling it as jungle justice and a criminal offense. Alabo also warned that recording and sharing violent acts on social media could lead to additional charges, including cybercrime.

He urged the public to report grievances to the appropriate authorities rather than resorting to violence.
