Plateau Residents Protest Killing of Two Women by Security

On Monday, residents of Nayagota community in Gyel District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, protested the alleged killing of two women by unidentified security operatives. The protest escalated along Bukuru Expressway and moved to the Jos South Local Government Secretariat, where residents demanded justice for the victims.

Reports indicate that one other person was injured during the incident. Allegations suggest that the women were shot after approaching the operatives to inquire about their presence in the community.

Da Gyang Dudu Dalyop, President of the Berom Educational and Cultural Organisation (BECO) Worldwide, condemned the shooting and called for a thorough investigation. He noted that the community had become vigilant due to repeated attacks and expressed concern over the lack of communication from security operatives prior to their entry into the area.

Dalyop criticized the use of force against unarmed civilians and urged the Commissioner of Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to ensure accountability. As of the report's filing, no security agency had claimed responsibility for the shooting.
