Plateau Youths Protest Water Scarcity in Mabudi

On Wednesday, youths in Mabudi, Langtang South Local Government Area, Plateau State, staged a protest due to acute water scarcity, warning of a potential boycott of future elections if the situation is not urgently addressed. The protest aimed to draw attention to the pressing need for a sustainable water supply scheme in the area.

Youth leader Mr. Nanlir Gambo expressed frustration over the reliance on unsafe water sources and the burden placed on households, particularly women and children.

The local government, represented by Chief Press Secretary Mr. Butko Iliya, stated that temporary measures, including daily water tanker supplies, have been implemented to mitigate the crisis.

Plateau State's Ministry of Water Resources and Energy, led by Permanent Secretary Mr. Lohnan V.

Gambo, has commenced long-term interventions to resolve the water situation. Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang directed the ministry to implement urgent measures, and a comprehensive geophysical survey has already begun in the surrounding communities.
