Pogacar Faces Fine for Running Red Light in Flanders Win

Tadej Pogacar, the defending champion, achieved a record-equaling third victory at the Tour of Flanders but is now facing potential legal action for running a red light during the race. The incident occurred approximately 200 km (124 miles) from the finish line when the peloton was instructed to stop at a level crossing.

Pogacar, along with other riders including Remco Evenepoel, crossed the track despite the warning. The public prosecutor informed BBC Sport that Pogacar could face a fine ranging from €320 to €4,000 or an eight-day driving ban.

Despite this controversy, Pogacar expressed happiness about his performance, noting that everything went perfectly during the race. He is set to compete in Paris-Roubaix next weekend, aiming to become only the fourth cyclist to win five monuments.

The race featured challenging climbs and cobbled sections, with Pogacar ultimately pulling away from his rivals to secure the win.
