Polaris Bank Chairman Urges Ethics in Banking Profession

Dr. Kassim Gidado, the Chairman of Polaris Bank, addressed newly inducted bankers at the 2026 Stream 1 Chartered Banker induction ceremony organized by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Lagos over the weekend.

He emphasized the importance of ethics and professionalism in the banking profession, urging the inductees to remain steadfast and committed to integrity in their conduct to excel and advance their careers within Nigeria's financial sector. The ceremony recognized 2,037 professionals who achieved various certifications, including 9 candidates through the Chartered Banker MBA route, 816 through the regular Chartered Banker route, 25 via the MSc Chartered Banker pathway, 262 through the SMP & Chartered Banker route, and 435 as Microfinance Certified Bankers.

Gidado noted that the induction ceremony represents formal recognition of the professionals' status and reflects their dedication and discipline in pursuing excellence within the banking profession. He highlighted the transformative changes in the financial services industry driven by technological innovation and regulatory evolution, stressing that trust remains the cornerstone of banking.
