Polaris Bank Chairman Advocates Ethics for New Bankers

Gidado, the chairman of Polaris Bank, urged newly inducted chartered bankers to uphold ethical standards during the 2026 Stream 1 chartered banker induction ceremony organized by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Lagos. The ceremony, held over the weekend, saw the induction of 2,037 professionals into the banking sector.

The institute recognized various certification pathways, including nine candidates for chartered banker status, 816 for the regular route, 25 for the MSc chartered banker pathway, 262 for the SMP, and 435 for microfinance certification. Gidado highlighted the significance of professionalism and ethical conduct in the banking industry, noting that the financial services sector is undergoing significant transformation driven by technological innovation and regulatory changes.

He commended the CIBN for its role in strengthening professional standards and building industry capacity, emphasizing that the quality and integrity of professionals are critical assets for sustainable growth in the banking sector.
