Apprentice Charged with Murder of Employer in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned an apprentice, Chiemeri Aniek, for the murder of his employer, Ikechukwu Nwite. The arraignment took place on March 18, 2026, at the High Court in Onitsha.

Aniek, aged 21, is accused of using a pestle to strike Nwite, leading to his death. Alongside Aniek, another suspect, Godwin Nnabuik Nwokporo, also 21, was charged for allegedly aiding the crime by providing a bank account for the transfer of ₦8 million belonging to the deceased.

The police reported that they recovered ₦6 million from the stolen funds, which has been tendered as evidence in ongoing court proceedings. The incident reportedly occurred in February following an altercation related to alleged theft.

Both suspects have been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.
