Abia Police Arrest 13 for Armed Robbery and Vandalism

The Abia Police Command announced the arrest of 13 male suspects aged between 20 and 27 for involvement in armed robbery, vandalism of government property, and unlawful possession of firearms. This information was shared by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, on Wednesday.

Recovered items include one locally made pistol, one Beretta pistol, a pump-action gun, live cartridges, a cutlass, an axe, substances suspected to be hard drugs, walkie-talkies, and various berets. Notably, Uchenna Agbneiwu, 27, was apprehended with a vandalized pipeline in a Toyota Hiace bus.

Williams Ifeanyi, also 27, was arrested for robbing a victim at gunpoint along Market Road. Additionally, John Chigozie, 25, and David Anyaka, 26, were arrested for an armed robbery incident at a hotel in Aba on August 1, 2026.

The Violent Crime Response Unit also apprehended cultists during a meeting in Umuahia North. Ongoing investigations aim to capture additional fleeing suspects.
