Police Arrest Four Suspected Cultists in Abia State

The Abia State Police Command arrested four suspected cultists on July 7, 2026, in a crackdown on a criminal gang involved in violent activities. The suspects, identified as Obioma Nmerib (22), Emmanuel Lekwechi (25), Ikemefulla Thankgod Amadi (25), and Bright Nnabugu (31), were apprehended following credible information regarding their gang's activities in Ubakala.

The police recovered a Beretta pistol, a locally made pistol, live ammunition, black berets, a cutlass, a digger, a locally made single-barrel long gun, an expend cartridge, and high-tension wire. The operation was conducted by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in collaboration with sister security agencies.

The Commissioner of Police for Abia State, Danladi Isa, stated that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation. The police urged the public to continue collaborating with them to ensure safety in the state.
