Police Arrest 22 Suspected Drug Dealers in Delta State

On July 21, 2026, at approximately 1500 hours, the Delta State Police Command, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, conducted an intelligence-led raid on illicit drug dens in Ozoro and Abraka. This operation resulted in the arrest of 22 suspects, comprising 19 males and three females, for offenses related to the sale, possession, and distribution of illicit drugs.

Additionally, two minors were rescued from a suspected drug den allegedly operated by their father. The minors have been placed in protective custody and will be handed over to the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs for care.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe stated that investigations into the suspects' activities are ongoing. Commissioner of Police CP Yemi Oyeniyi expressed concern over the presence of minors in such environments and reaffirmed the command's commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks while encouraging community support for police efforts.
