Delta Police Arrest 22, Rescue Minors in Drug Raid

On July 21, 2026, the Delta State Police Command conducted an intelligence-led raid in Ozoro and Abraka, resulting in the arrest of 22 suspects, including 19 males and three females, for offenses related to the sale, possession, and distribution of illicit drugs. The operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, following credible intelligence.

During the raid, two minors were rescued from a suspected drug den allegedly operated by their father. The minors have been placed in protective custody and will be handed over to the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs for appropriate care.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe stated that investigations into the suspects' activities are ongoing. Commissioner of Police CP Yemi Oyeniyi expressed concern over the discovery of minors in such an environment and reiterated the command's commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks while urging community support for police efforts.
