Delta Police Arrest 81 Suspects in Drug Raids in Asaba

On July 24, 2026, operatives of the Delta State Police Command arrested 81 suspected criminals during intelligence-led raids in Asaba. The operation was part of the command's strategy to dismantle criminal networks and was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, with tactical teams.

SP Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesman, reported that the arrested individuals included 50 males and 31 females, apprehended for offenses such as the sale and possession of suspected illicit drugs and establishing an illegal checkpoint at the Asaba-Onitsha Head Bridge. The operation resulted in the recovery of large quantities of Tramadol and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

Additionally, five vehicles were impounded for various violations, including operating an unauthorized taxi park at Pinnacle Junction along Okpanam Road and facilitating the sale and distribution of illicit drugs. The suspects and recovered exhibits remain in police custody as investigations continue.
