Bauchi Man Arrested for Circulating Fake Job Offers

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested Saleem Alhassan, a male from Zango area in Bauchi Local Government Area, for allegedly circulating fake appointment letters. The police commenced an investigation into the case, which involves allegations of criminal conspiracy and forgery.

According to spokesperson Nafiu Habib, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation on May 18, 2026. The arrest follows a formal complaint from the head of the civil service, revealing that five fake temporary appointment letters were recovered from the suspect.

Preliminary findings indicate that Alhassan allegedly printed these fake letters purportedly issued by government offices, defrauding unsuspecting members of the public by collecting between N500,000 and N750,000 under the pretext of securing employment. The police have warned the public against individuals or groups promising employment in exchange for money.

The suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
